Last Training Rides before the trip

Well we snuck in a fairly leisurely 12 miles after work before dark on Thursday. We replaced Lisa's stem reducing the length from 120mm to 90mm which should be better for the long rides ahead.

Saturday we are planning to ride the Resolution Century - 100 miles and maybe 5000' of climbing as you can see above, starting in Livermore CA. - weather looks to be cool but nice 43 - 55F and rain overnight on Friday night should be done by start time.

Then it is time to pack up the trusty steeds into their shipping boxes.

Have a great weekend everyone!

T - 5 days till we fly out

One of the non cycling events on our itinerary will be the evening Bioluminescent Bay Kayak Tour

advertised as follows:
"Imagine an evening spent floating on a magical river of stars.
It’s not a fantasy in Puerto Rico! Join us for an incredible night on the Las Croabas Bioluminescent Bay, located in Fajardo. This spectacular bay is populated with billions of a rare, microscopic plankton that shimmer and shine as your kayak glides through the tranquil waters. This extraordinary night is not to be missed!"

So we are looking forward to that... even though I expect there to be lots of other tours and lots of people with no clue whatsoever on how to control a kayak...bumper boats! LOL

The good news as well is that we will be going on the best time of the lunar cycle - new moon - at least acording to: http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/biobay-and-moon/

5 days and counting :)

Naturalization Ceremony

Today, on a beautiful sunny Northern California Day... Ron ( as well as 830 other folks) became a US Citizen. Ron wore a lovely new tie from Lisa to celebrate :) (thanks sweetheart!)

The oath ceremony was at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium accompanied by John phillip Souza marches.

I Forgot to bring a camera so these pics from my cell phone will have to suffice

I expect that I now no longer speak with an accent - LOL
Till next time

A big surprise... more rain!

Well...the rain continues with some heavy rain expected over the next 2 days and then maybe a break on Wed and Thursday... maybe we can manage a ride with the lights.

As the weather map shows the storms are just lining up to hit us. Made it to the gym this morning at 4:45 for some aerobic and core stuff.

The Resolution Century south of Livermore CA on Saturday looks like it might be lucky and miss the rain - that will be the last good ride before the flight out.

Have most of the equipment for the event thrown haphazardly in the suitcase but a busy week ahead for both of us....

By the way Happy Birthday to Lisa!!!

A break in the Rain

Well we have about a half a day's break in the rain AND the clouds so we managed to get out for abit less than 30 miles.

Dry roads, some big fluffy clouds and temps in the mid 50's... nice compared to the last week.

Unfortunately looks like the rain is returning by early to mid morning... might managed 20 miles before it come in - unfortunately temps at 7 am will be about 36F

Last week before we leave so hope we can get some rides in - maybe thursday

Hope the weather is nice where you are...Have a great weekend everyone :)

Starting to build an Ark :)

Well some really serious rain is hitting California.. and especially Southern California (with flooding and maybe 6-8" of rain just today(!))

On a bit of business travel to Denver and managed to catch this shot at Sacramento Airport during a lull in the weather :)

Did manage an early morning Spin session at the hotel fitness center, and both Lisa and I are working to get out bodies onto something closer to Puerto Rico Time ( which is 4 hrs ahead of California time) That makes for some pretty early rising over the next week or so - but that will hopefully help jet lag.

Start collecting your pets etc - 2 by 2

Enjoy your day

The rain continues - a few inches more expected along with 45mph wind...hmmm no riding today.
Attached a pic of our New years day ride in the rain... stay warm (and dry) everyone :)

The do expect better weekend weather with partly sunny and highs of 54F... Time for some climbing rides with our Cycle Folsom Friends (above:)
Stay warm and dry everyone
Cheers R & L

Team Huu-Haa Name Cards

So I figured that given the high profile of this 2 person team we better start cranking out the merchandise so worked on the logo and then made our name card / business card to hand out on our adventures ( anything to avoid writing :)

So see the new card attached above :)

comments accepted though not likely welcomed :) lol

Rain Rain Go Away

We are about 2 weeks aways from flying out to the event and the weatherman says expect rain every day (almost)- they say up to 10" of rain by Friday and over 10ft of snow in the Sierra's(!)

We managed to sneak in a ride on Sat since rain held off till later.
(Lisa did 77+ miles averaging above 18.5 for a large part of it with Cycle Folsom).

Ron managed a 12 mile mountain bike ride with kids, friends and colleagues and then a solo 40 mi ride from Elk Grove to Walnut Grove along the river.

Gonna have to be spin classes or the trainer this week.

Keep the rubber side down:)
